Live Broadcast Review
Thousands of children in remote and regional Australia wiggled their way into cinemas as part of CinemaLive's first LIVE national broadcast via satellite.
Aria Award winning children's act and international phenomenon, The Wiggles You Make Me Feel Like Dancing show was beamed LIVE via secure satellite from the Sydney Entertainment Centre to 29 cinemas Australia wide. Venues included a host of cinemas, such as Broken Hill, Charlton, Mt Isa, Darwin, Narrabri, Mildura, Port Augusta, Babinda, Orange, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, Katherine and Devonport to name a few.
Cinema owner Ashton Wren from Silver City Broken Hill said the response was overwhelming and locals have really the embraced the idea. "We had a full house and the kids had so much fun. They were dancing on the chairs, wiggling in the aisles, it was just incredible - we just closed the doors and let them go for it."
"It was wonderful to see families, grandparents, parents and kids having so much fun. It was delightful to hear 250 kids yell out WAKE UP JEFF!!! outside a closed cinema door", said Katrine Elliott, General Manager from CMax Devonport.
CinemaLive was also very excited that The Wiggles show has also been seen in 40 VUE cinemas throughout the UK as an Australian first.
"Suddenly the world is a smaller place", said Joint Director Janelle Mason. "The concept of satelliting not just local entertainment, but international acts and events that can not be seen in Australia is very exciting. We are currently in negotiations with parties around the world exploring reciprocal arrangements."
"We were also delighted to broadcast to the Children at The Children's Hospital, Westmead. It was an amazing day. The kids had an opportunity to watch the show in the Starlight room or from their beds", said Peter Skillman, Joint Director of CinemaLive.
